Designed to meet the specific needs of Western and Southwestern calf raisers, the Calva® Liquid Xcel® calf milk replacer line is an innovative, two-part milk replacer program that combines a fresh, homogenized liquid concentrate and a dry premix on farm. The liquid concentrate and dry premix work together to provide optimal nutrition to help support calf performance.
The protein and fat levels within the Calva® Liquid Xcel® premix can be tailored to meet your farm needs.
Begin feeding calf milk replacer on day 2 after colostrum or colostrum replacer feeding. We recommend providing 1.5-2.5 lbs dry matter/calf/day by either feeding 4 quarts twice daily or 3 quarts 2-3 times daily.
Provide fresh, clean water along with a high-quality, palatable calf starter feed on a free-choice basis. Only use low sodium water (<50 ppm) when mixing milk replacer and feeding calves.
Always weigh calf milk replacer powder for accurate mixing. Water temperature for mixing calf milk replacer should be 110-120°F. Calf milk replacer should be 105°F when delivered to the calf.
